Tipner, Hampshire
Tipner is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in Portsmouth, Hampshire. It is located on the north-western corner of Portsea Island. The site of the original hamlet is south-west of Tipner Point. The surrounding area was extensively used by the military from the 1790s. 20th-century development to the south-east of the hamlet saw Tipner become a suburban area contiguous with Stawshaw. However, the construction of M275 in the 1970s saw much of this area demolished. Tipner is within the council area of Portsmouth.
