Thorney, Cambridgeshire
Thorney is a village in the very north of Cambridgeshire, in the Isle of Ely area of the county. Tracing its roots back to around AD 500 when it started out as a Saxon settlement, the existence of Thorney Abbey made the settlement an important ecclesiastical centre for a long period of time. The village is within the council area of Peterborough.
