Thornaby-on-Tees is a town in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. It lies on the south bank of the River Tees. The parish church stands on the village green, bearing the unusual dedication to St Peter ad Vincula ("St Peter in chains"), which is derived from the ancient Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. The town is within the council area of Stockton-on-Tees.
