The Town Bridge, Wiltshire
The Town Bridge is a 13th-century former packhorse bridge across the River Avon in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. The bridge was widened n the 17th century. The ‘chapel’ on the south end probably dates from the 17th century and was used as a lock-up or ‘blind house’ in the 18th century. The ford after which the town is named is adjacent on the western side of the bridge and was used for larger traffic up until the late 19th century. The bridge is within the council area of Wiltshire.
