The Rampart, Essex
The Rampart is a prehistoric earthwork near Layer Marney, Essex. The rampart in part consists of a double bank with a waterfilled ditch between the banks. The bank survives to a height of 3ft and is 6ft wide constructed of sandy loam. The monument is within the council area of Colchester (Essex).
