The Mount, Suffolk
The Mount is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle at St John, Ilketshall, Suffolk. The motte has a flat-topped, sub-circular mound 150ft wide and 16ft above the prevailing ground level, encircled by a ditch up to 33ft wide. The bailey has a central platform measuring around 175ft by 100ft and raised about 2ft above the prevailing ground level. The monument is within the council area of East Suffolk (Suffolk).
