The Manor House, Lincolnshire
The Manor House (aka Bassingthorpe Manor House) is a 16th country house in Bassingthorpe, Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Kesteven. It was built in 1568 for Thomas Coney and is much reduced and once part of a larger house. In 1545 the manor was inherited by Thomas Coney from his father, and inventories of the period indicate that a substantial house existed on the site. The manor house is believed to have been moved from the moated island to its present position, north of the moat. The remains of the moated site now take the form of a series of earthworks and buried deposits.. The building contains 19th and 20th century alterations. Built of ashlar with a slate roof it consists three storeys with three bay front with basement and garret. It is within the council area of South Kesteven (Lincolnshire).
