The Lion Bridge, Northumberland
The Lion Bridge is a late 18th-century three-arched bridge across the River Aln near Alnwick, Northumberland. It dates from 1775 and was designed by John Adam. In the centre on the east side stands the Percy Lion in cast lead. Matching it on the west side was reputedly once a unicorn (symbolizing Scotland). The bridge is within the council area of Northumberland.
