The Lawe, Durham
The Lawe is an urban locality in South Shields, County Durham. The Lawe lies in the far north-east of South Shields, looing out into the North Sea, at the mouth of the Tyne. It has a long history of military fortification. The Lawe Beacons were constructed in 1832 as a navigational aid to ships entering the Tyne. The Lawe is within the council area of South Tyneside.
