The Devil's Highway, Berkshire

The Devil's Highway was a Roman road connecting Londinium (London, Middlesex) to Calleva Atrebatum (Silchester, Hampshire) via Pontes (Staines, Middlesex). The road was the principal route to the west of Britain during the Roman period. The stretch to the north of the village of Finchampstead, Berkshire runs across open countryside and is not easily discerned on the ground. This stretch of the Devil's Highway is within the council area of Wokingham.
