The Bristol High Cross, Wiltshire

The Bristol High Cross is an early 15th-century market cross, once located in the centre of Bristol, since 1765 located within the Stourton estate, Wiltshire. The cross originally stood at the street crossing at the centre of mediæval Bristol. It was moved to College Green in 1736 but dismantled in 1762 as an impediment to those promenading on the green. Henry Hoare acquired the monument for his developing landscape at Stourhead in 1765. It is within the council area of Wiltshire.
