The Borough, Surrey

The Borough (or Borough) is both an alternative name for Southwark, Middlesex and is also used to refer to Southwark's historic commercial centre, on and around Borough High Street. The present Church of St George the Martyr, which dates from the 1730s, is the third on the site. Borough Market dates from the 12th century and has traded at its present location since 1756. The 17th century George Inn is London's last remaining galleried inn. The area is within the council area of Southwark.
