Tettenhall, Staffordshire
Tettenhall is a large village in Staffordshire. The Battle of Tettenhall (910) proved a turning point in the battle against the Danish Viking invaders by the forces of Edward the Elder of Wessex and Ealdorman Æthelred of Mercia. St Michael and All Angels' Church dates from the late 10th century. For local government purposes, from 1895-1966, the ancient parish of Tettenhall was the basis for Tettenhall urban district. It is within the council area of Wolverhampton.
