Teddington, Middlesex
Teddington is a suburban town in Middlesex, lying between Bushey Park and the River Thames. Teddington Manor was first owned by Benedictine monks in Staines who it is believed built a chapel dedicated to St Mary on the same site as the current St Mary's Church. After the establishment of Hampton Court and Bushey Park, Teddington enjoyed a prosperous life due to the proximity of royalty. The arrival of the railway in 1863 saw Teddington grow into a popular suburban town. Teddington Lock stretches across the river between Teddington and Ham and marks the tidal limit of the Thames. The Town is within the council area of Richmond upon Thames.
