Tayport, Fife
Tayport (also known as Ferry-Port on Craig) is a town in Fife, on the Firth of Tay. The settlement (originally Port Na Creige) grew around an ancient ferry service across the Tay, the name eventually evolving to Ferry-Port-on-Craig. The name 'Tayport' was coined by the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Railway Company when it established a service to the town in the 1850s. The town is within the council area of Fife.
