Tatchbury Mount, Hampshire
Tatchbury Mount is a small Iron Age multivallate hillfort, situated on the hill from which it is named, near Calmore, Hampshire. The hillfort defences originally completely enclosed the hilltop, forming a north-north-east to south-south-west oval-shaped interior of around five acres. A country house, Tatchbury Manor, was built on the summit of the hill in the late 18th century and the surrounding area was extensively landscaped and planted with trees to form a formal gardens. The house, which was later part of Tatchbury Mount Hospital, was demolished in 2006. The monument is within the council area of New Forest (Hampshire).
