MenuSudeley Castle, Gloucestershire
Sudeley Castle is a country house and estate near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. The castle was built from 1443 for Ralph Boteler, the Lord High Treasurer of England, on the site of a fortified manor house. It was later seized by the crown. Richard III built its famous banqueting hall. After Henry VIII's death, it became the home of Catherine Parr, who is buried in the castle's church. It gradually fell into ruin after the Civil War. It was purchased in 1837 by the Dent family who restored the castle and turned it into a family home. It is within the council area of Tewkesbury (Gloucestershire).
