Strome Castle, Ross-shire
Strome Castle is a ruined castle on the shore of Loch Carron, Ross-shire. It is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. It was originally built by the Macdonald Earls of Ross. In 1539 King James V granted it to the Clan MacDonnell of Glengarry. In 1602 the castle was besieged by the Clan Mackenzie. After the MacDonalds surrendered it was demolished. It is within the council area of Highland.
