Stourbridge, Worcestershire

Stourbridge is a market town in Worcestershire, on the River Stour. It was listed in the 1255 Worcestershire assize roll as 'Sturbrug' or 'Sturesbridge'. Stourbridge has been known as a centre of glass-making since the 17th century. Much of the town consists of suburban streets, interspersed with green spaces. At the western edge of Stourbridge is unspoiled countryside (green belt). The town is within the council area of Dudley.
