Stony Stratford is a market town in Buckinghamshire. The town's market charter dates from 1194 and its status as a town from 1215. Since the 1970s Stony Stratford has formed a constituent town of the new town of Milton Keynes, although its position at the far north-west of the new town means that it maintains a distinct identity. The town is within the council area of Milton Keynes.
