Stanlow, Cheshire
Stanlow is an urban area in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Stanlow, to the east of Ellesmere Port, is the site of a major oil refinery, opened in 1924. Stanlow was formerly an extra-parochial place, the site of the Abbey of St Mary at Stanlaw, founded in 1178. The ruins of the abbey remain on Stanlow Point. The area is within the council area of Cheshire West and Chester.
