Staffordshire CA, Staffordshire

Staffordshire is a council area which forms the upper tier in a two-tier system of local government. The council area has a significantly different area to the historic county from which it takes its name, primarily because it does not include Stoke-on-Trent or the densely populated south-east of the historic county (which includes Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich, Coseley and Wednesbury). There are also several other small differences between the boundaries of the council area and the historic county, notably around Tamworth, Burton-on-Trent and Upper Arley.
