St Oswald's Priory, Gloucestershire

St Oswald's Priory is a ruined priory in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. It was founded by Æthelflæd, daughter of Alfred the Great, and her husband Æthelred in the late 880s or the 890s. Whilst the priory was an important part of the Burh of Gloucester in Saxon time, from the 11th century its importance declined. Following its suppression in 1536, it became the parish church of St Catherine, but this was reduced to ruins in a Civil War siege. The site is within the council area of Gloucester (Gloucestershire).
