St Milburga's Well, Shropshire

St Milburga's Well (or St Milburgha's Well) is an ancient spring with an old stone basin, in the village of Stoke St Milborough, Shropshire. The earliest reference is from 1321. The spring has traditionally been associated with St Milburgha, 8th-century Benedictine abbess of Wenlock Priory. According to legend, St Milburga, after being chased by her enemies for two days, fell and hit her head on a stone. She commanded her horse to strike a rock, from which water suddenly gushed forth so that she could bathe the wound. The well is within the council area of Shropshire.
