St Milburga's Priory (aka Wenlock Priory) is a ruined 12th-century monastery, located in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. Merewalh, King of the Magonsaete, founded a monastery here c. 680. Merewalh's daughter Milburga became its second abbess, and was later canonised. It was re-founDed by Roger de Montgomery as a Cluniac house between 1079 and 1082. In 1101, repairs were being made to the Holy Trinity Church, and bones were found under the floor. These were believed to be those of Saint Milburga, and were transferred to the main monastery church. The monastery was dissolved on 26 January 1540 and most of the buildings subsequently fell to ruins. The site is within the council area of Shropshire.
