St Mary Cray, Kent
St Mary Cray is a town in Kent. St Mary’s church was built in the early 13th century. During the Middle Ages the market at St Mary Cray, granted by Edward I, was second only in importance to Bromley’s in this area of Kent and several mills operated beside the River Cray. St Mary Cray saw large-scale industrial and housing development in the 20th century, making it contiguous with Orpington to its south and St Paul's Cray to its north. The town is within the council area of Bromley.
