St Mary's Cathedral, Northumberland
St Mary's Cathedral (formally the Cathedral Church of St Mary) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. It is the seat of the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. It was designed by A.W.N. Pugin in the Gothic Revival style and constructed from 1842-1844. The stained glass in the Great East Window, Lady Chapel and Blessed Sacrament Chapel, were done by William Wailes. The church became a cathedral in 1850. The cathedral is within the council area of Newcastle upon Tyne.
