St Mark's Church, Dundela, Down

St Mark's Church, Dundela (C of I) is a High Victorian double-height Gothic revival style church, located in the Strandtown area of east Belfast, in County Down. It is within the townland of Strandtown, in the civil parish of Holywood. The church dates from 1876 and was built to designs by the internationally renowned English architect William Butterfield. The church has a cruciform plan with a tall square tower to the west and a single-storey extension to north. The church displays a number of Butterfield’s typical architectural features, e.g. the irregular coursed stone walling, the fish-scale pattern to the tower roof and the lavishly ornamented interior with coloured stone and polychromatic tiling. The writer C.S. Lewis was a member of the congregation and donated a number of the stained glass windows. The church is within the council area of Belfast.
