St Leonard's Tower, Kent

St Leonard's Tower is an early Norman Tower Keep near West Malling, Kent. It is thought by some to have been built by Gundulf Bishop of Rochester (1077-1108) as his fortified residence or castle. Others consider it built by Bishop Odo of Bayeux, half-brother of William the Conqueror. Some historians have considered it to be the west tower of a chapel (St Leonard's Chapel), other parts of which may survive as mediæval walling incorporated within a later post-mediæval garden boundary wall. It is in the care of English Heritage. It is within the council area of Tonbridge and Malling (Kent).
