St Lawrence's Chapel, Yorkshire
St Lawrence's Chapel is a ruined 14th-century chapel at Barforth-on-Tees, a deserted mediæval village in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. It is located on the southern bank of the River Tees overlooking the village of Gainford. St Lawrence's dates from the 12th century and was in use until some time in the 16th century, when it was desecrated after the Reformation. Thereafter it seems to have been converted into a dwelling for one of the priests who remained to minister to the people of the district. It is within the council area of County Durham.
