St John's Point Church, Down

St John's Point Church is a ruined mediæval church in the townland of Saint Johns Point, County Down. This small 10th or 11th century church marks the site of an early establishment associated with Eoan (John) son of Cairland. It is an excellent example of a small, pre-Romanesque church with a lintelled west door with sloping jambs, antae to east and west and a south window. It was almost certainly preceded by a wooden church. There is a holy well, St.John's Well, at the roadside and a bullaun stone nearby. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
