St George's Cathedral, Surrey
St George's Cathedral (formally the Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of St George) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Southwark, Surrey. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Southwark. It was designed by A.W.N. Pugin in decorated Gothic, and constructed from yellow stock brick with Portland stone dressings in 1841-48. In 1848 Pugin and his third wife Jane became the first couple to be married in the church. It was consecrated as a cathedral in 1894. Following severe bomb damage in the Second World War, it was rebuilt in Gothic Revival style to designs by Romilly Craze. The cathedral is within the council area of Southwark.
