St Edmundsbury Cathedral (formally the Cathedral Church of St James and St Edmund) is a Church of England cathedral in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It is the seat of the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. A church has stood on the site since at least 1065. The church was largely rebuilt in the early 16th-century in the Perpendicular style by John Wastell. Further alterations to the building were undertaken in the 18th and 19th centuries, notably a new chancel and a hammerbeam roof by George Gilbert Scott. The church became a cathedral in 1914 and has seen further enlargement in the decades since. The cathedral is within the council area of West Suffolk (Suffolk).
