St Budeaux is a former village and ancient parish that is now an urban area in the north-west of Plymouth, Devon, lying on the east bank of the Tamar. The settlement was named for Saint Budoc of Dol who is said to have founded a church here around 480. A stone church was completed before the Conquest. The village was listed in Domesday as 'Bucheside'. A third church was completed in 1563. Sir Francis Drake married local woman Mary Newman here in 1569. The area became incorporated into the municipal area of Plymouth between the wars and has since been substantially developed. It is within the council area of Plymouth.
