Springfield, Antrim

Springfield is an urban area in west Belfast, County Antrim. It lies within the townlands of Ballymagarry and Edenderry, in the civil parish of Shankill. The Springfield Cotton Factory was established on the Forth River in the late 18th century. Aside from the mill, the area remained largely rural until the late 19th century, from when development spread west from Belfast along Springfield Road. Springfield is within the council area of Belfast.
