Southwell Minster, Nottinghamshire
Southwell Minster (formally the Cathedral and Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary) is a Church of England cathedral in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. It is the seat of the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham. The present church mostly dates from 1108-1150 when an earlier church was rebuilt in Romanesque style. The chancel was rebuilt from 1234-1251 in the Early English Gothic style. The chapter house dates from 1288. It became a cathedral in 1884. It is within the council area of Newark and Southwell (Nottinghamshire).
