Southwark Cathedral, Surrey

Southwark Cathedral (formally the Cathedral and Collegiate Church of St Saviour and St Mary Overie) is a Church of England cathedral in Southwark, Surrey. It is the seat of the Bishop of Southwark. Between 1106-1538, it was the church of an Augustinian priory. Following the Dissolution, it became a parish church. It was made a cathedral in 1905. The present building retains the basic form of the Gothic structure built between 1220 and 1420. The nave was replaced in 1890-97 by Sir Arthur Blomfield in 13th-century style. The cathedral is within the council area of Southwark.
