Southall, Middlesex
Southall is a large suburban town in Middlesex. It appears as 'Suhaull' in 1198. The town developed from the expansion and coalescence of three villages. Southall itself (now the main commercial centre) is the most northerly with Southall Green (or Old Southall) to its south-west, around St John's Church. South-east of Southall Green is Norwood Green. From 1936-1965, for local government purposes, Southall formed the basis of the Southall municipal borough. Southall Town Hall (1898) was designed by Thomas Newall in the classical style. Southall is within the council area of Ealing.
