South Tidworth, Hampshire

South Tidworth is a former village which is now forms the southern (Hampshire) part of the town of Tidworth. As far back as the Domesday Book, the village of North Tidworth lay in Wiltshire and the village of South Tidworth in Hampshire. In the early 20th century, extensive military barracks were developed largely in South Tidworth but spreading across the county border into North Tidworth. Today North Tidworth and South Tidworth, though retaining district identities, are thought of as part of the larger town of Tidworth. South Tidworth is within the council area of Wiltshire.
