South Molton, Devon

South Molton is a market town, lying on the west bank of the River Mole in the north of Devon. The estate of South Molton dates from the pre-Conquest period. The town was incorporated by Elizabeth I in 1590. The Guildhall was constructed between 1739-1743, the adjoining Pannier Market dating from 1864. The town is within the council area of North Devon (Devon).
