South Kirkby, Yorkshire
South Kirkby is a town in Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The foundations and part of the walls of All Saints Church are from the Anglo-Saxon period. For many centuries, South Kirkby was a farming village, but the coming of the mines in the 19th century saw South Kirby and neighbouring Moorthorpe grow to house the miners and their families. All Saints Church dates from the 13th century. The town is within the council area of Wakefield.
