South Gosforth, Northumberland
South Gosforth is former village which now a part of the Gosforth area of Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. South Gosforth was first mentioned in 1319, when it was noted that the English Army retreated there from a siege on Berwick. The name is believed to refer to the part of Gosforth parish south of the Ouse Burn. It is within the council area of Newcastle upon Tyne.
