Sompting Abbotts is an urban area in Sompting, Sussex. The area lies in the north of the village and is the site of the former manor of Sompting Abbotts. It was called 'Abbotts' because it had been given, in the Middle Ages, to the Abbey of Fecamp in France. Following the Dissolution, the manor was granted to Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk. Sompting Abbotts House (1856) was designed by Philip Charles Hardwick in Neo-Gothic style. The building, now a school, replaced the former manor house. Sompting Abbotts is within the council area of Adur (West Sussex).
