Somers Town, Middlesex

Somers Town is an urban area in the metropolitan district of St Pancras, Middlesex. The area, to the south and west of St Pancras Old Church, was developed from the 1790s. It was named after landowner Charles Cocks, 1st Baron Somers. St Mary's Church (1827) was designed by Henry William Inwood as a chapel of ease for St Pancras Old Church. The novelist Mary Shelley was born in Somers Town in 1851. The area is within the council area of Camden.
