Snodhill Castle, Herefordshire

Snodhill Castle is a ruined motte-and-bailey castle in Snodhill, Herefordshire. Dating from the 11th century, it was built to secure the border between Norman England and the Welsh Princes. It was one of the earliest Norman castles to have stone-built fortifications. It was still in use in the 17th century, since when it has fallen into ruin. It is within the council area of County of Herefordshire.
