Snitterton Hall, Derbyshire

Snitterton Hall is a manor house in Snitterton, Derbyshire. The present house represents a refronting and extension c. 1632–33 of an earlier manor house by Colonel John Milward. The house is constructed from local Ashover Grit stone and retains many original features, including mullioned and transom windows, historic panelling, and fireplaces. It has been owned by several families, including the Sacheverels, Milwards, and Adderleys, before passing to the Fearne family, and was later sold to the Thornhills in 1910. The hall's history is also linked to the 17th-century turnpike road that ran through the hamlet, with remnants of it still visible today. After falling into disrepair by 1997, the hall and its grounds underwent a meticulous 15-year restoration. The house is within the council area of Derbyshire Dales (Derbyshire).
