Smisby_Tournament_Field, Derbyshire

Smisby Tournament Field is a mediæval moated site near Smisby, Derbyshire. The surviving features are manorial earthworks, including a pond with an adjacent platform mound, probably a building site. The name appears to derive from Sir Walter Scott's choice of it for the site of the Tournament in Ivanhoe. The site is within the council area of South Derbyshire (Derbyshire).
