Smallthorne, Staffordshire

Smallthorne is a large village in Staffordshire. Until the 1970s, Smallthorne was a coal mining village. St Saviour's Church dates from the 1850s. For local government purposes, from 1894-1922, Smallthorne was the basis of Smallthorne urban district. The village saw significant suburban development in the late 20th century and is now contiguous with Sneyd Green to its south. It is within the council area of Stoke-on-Trent.
