Sketrick Castle, Down
Sketrick Castle is a ruined tower house, located on Sketrick Island in Strangford Lough, County Down. It dates from at least the mid 15th-century. It guarded the causeway to Sketrick Island. Access to the island was through a narrow passage at the base of the tower. The tower-house is four stories high, with the upper stories divided into two chambers. The upper stories are mostly ruined. The passageway was blocked in the 16th century and a bawn was built around the tower. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
