Sirhowy, Monmouthshire

Sirhowy (Welsh: Sirhywi) is a former industrial village in the Sirhowy Valley in Monmouthshire. The Sirhowy Iron Works were established in 1778 by Thomas Atkinson. The works supplied pig iron to the nearby Tredegar Iron Works and, later, the Ebbw Vale works. Stone blast furnaces and masonry arches from the works are still visible. The village is within the council area of Blaenau Gwent.
